Log Home / Cabin Construction Guide
STARTING THE FIRST COURSE:
- GASKET AND SUB FLOOR ADHESIVE: It is common to lay a strip of foam gasket and place a bead of sub floor adhesive between the log and the sub floor just before permanently setting your starter logs to the sub floor.
- HALF LOG STARTER: This is the first course of wall log to be laid on the sub floor. The outside edge of this log will typically overhand past the subfloor. This course will need to be drilled to receive the allthread rod from the foundation wall.
- WHOLE LOG STARTER: This is the starter course of wall log that runs perpendicular to the half log starter. The outside of the flat cut on the bottom of this log will typically overhang past the sub floor slightly. This course will need to be drilled to receive the allthread rod from the foundation wall.
- NUT/WASHER: This is a 5/8" nut and round washer that is used to bolt down the first course of log. This needs to be countersunk into the whole log and half log starter courses. **This is an "Dry-In Package" item**
