FAQ - Log Cabin / Log Home Shell Kits:
(Frequently Asked Questions)
Question: What is the Process of Placing an Order for a Log Home / Log Cabin kit?
Anwer:Placing an order for your Log Home or Log Cabin is very easy. We will need only basic information such as the Log Home / Log Cabin you wish to purchase, the diameter & appearance of logs to be included, the destination address for freight delivery of the order, the approximate date you wish to have the kit sent from the manufacturer, and a deposit of 1/3 of the Log Home / Log Cabin kit price. The balance of the Log Home / Log Cabin kit purchase price must be paid in full prior to shipment of this kit to you. Your Log Home / Log Cabin kit generally will be ready for shipment in approx. 4 to 6 weeks after date of order.
Freight charges are in addition to the Log Home / Log Cabin kit price, and you will be responsible for paying the freight company at time of delivery. We will assist in obtaining a freight quote for you at the time of order.
Question: Are Plans included in with the Kit?
Anwer:Yes, each Log Cabin / Log Home Shell Kit includes 3 sets of prints. Each print includes these pages (if applicable): floor plans, 4 elevations, at least one 3-dimensional rendering, foundation layout, subfloor framing, 2nd floor framing, roof framing, and a generic detail page. There is also a blank electrical page to be designed by the home owners or electrician. The prints are not engineered and do not include any structural sizing. The prints will need to be engineered by a 3rd party in order to ensure the structural members will meet code and conditions for where the structure is to be located. The are nice prints, but they are not achitectural prints with a lot of detail. Most customers are able to comfortably build using these prints once they have been engineered, but some counties and customers require more details that these prints include.
These prints are available for purchase prior to ordering your Log Cabin or Log Home kit. The cost of a stock plan print that has not been modified can be deducted from the cost of your Log Cabin or Log Home kit - meaning the prints are no extra charge to you. Please call us for pricing on these plans.
Question: Can Stock Plans be Modified to Suit Individual Needs:
Anwer:Yes. The current fee for this service is $50 per hour of modification. This cost is in addition to the cost of the stock print plans. Some common modifications are: changing the diameter of the wall log to reflect the size the customer is using, rather than the size the print was originally drawn with, flipping or inversing the plan, changing room sizes, etc. If you want to make a lot of changes (especially to the foundation) it may be more cost effective to design a custom print from scratch.
Question: I have a Preferred Log Home / Log Cabin Floor Plan, Can You Provide Custom Design Prints?
Anwer:Yes! The cost of design service for Custom Design Log Home / Log Cabin prints varies with the complexity of the structure. Currently, simple designs cost as little as $.60 per sq. ft. and more complicated plans can cost as much as $1.00 per sq. ft. We can provide an estimate for you on your Custom Design Prints.
Each of the Custom Design Prints will typically include these following pages (if applicable): floor plans, 4 elevations, at least one 3 dimensional rendering, foundation layout, sublfoor framing, 2nd floor framing, roof framint & a generic details page. There is also a blank electrical page to be desinged by hte home owner or electrician. The prints are not engineered and do not include any structural sizing. The prints will need to be engineered by a 3rd party in order to ensure the structural members will meet code and conditions for where the structure is to be located. The are nice prints, but they are not achitectural prints with a lot of detail.
